worldview post part 3: i need your help
so i was chilling in the shower after a rain soccer game (yes there are few things in this world more relaxing than a hot shower after a soccer game in the rain) and i was thinking. i don't know what the occasion was (alright inside joke).
again, as with all of my worldview posts, this is from a christian worldview so either talk from yours (if it's a christian one) or try to jump into a christian worldview for this discussion.
a lot of times we (everyone) believe what we believe because that's what our parents, teachers, pastors (bishops, fathers, rabbi's, other religious figures) tell us is right. but that's not a good process. we should know what we believe because we believe it, not because that's what we've been told. so here's what i was thinking in the shower and i have foregone thinking deep into this for the sake of hearing everyone else's opinion. so please, comment on this so i can hear what you have to say about this.
we often get punished for not doing or believing what our parents believe. it may not necessarily be wrong, but because our parents deem it wrong, we get punished for it. so here's my thought:
can we narrow our decisions to a few guidelines or are there more that we should allow people to structure their lives around and not be ashamed for ones outside of these.
1. if it is legal, and
2. if the bible doesn't go against it, and
3. if it doesn't hurt others
it is alright to do.
so think about it, are those the only criteria, or should there be more that parents could teach kids. if they follow those three guidelines (or more if you think) then anything they do goes unpunishable and should not be talked against. it seems like there are more criteria that should be used, but i think we complicate things too much. again, i didn't think too hard about this, so let me hear your opinions. are those three criteriums sufficient, or should there be more? please, give me your opinions.

I think you are pretty right on. A side note. I read today that Fort Collins is in the top ten cities to raise a family in the US.
you owe me a coffee. :)
point four: is it in your best interest?
i think that is perhaps the most important.
