european sports
this is a great day for sports and they are all taking place in a close radius and a couple neighboring countries with another separated by a channel. although nothing final has been established today, history is being made.
1. tour de france: matthias kessler struggled so hard yesterday but was overtaken in the last stretch won the stage today. overall standings changed a bit with american george hincapie is five seconds behind and in third place.
2. wimbledon: if you think i was putting on my poker face and bluffing, think again. maria sharapova cruised through the russian match by defeating fellow russian elena dementieva moving into the women's single semi-finals at the two thousand six wimbledon, the championships.
3. world cup: speaking of semi-finals, the world cup semi-finals kick off today with host germany taking on the much-controversial italy. germany has never beaten italy in world cup history, but history may be the only thing going against germany. germany has a new-found energy not usually seen by the squad. although if you asked me twelve years ago who i was cheering for, i would have prouldy said italy. this game, i am cheering for germany. i would love to see a germany france final. time will tell. turn your telies this holiday and see some european sports in the making.
happy fourth of july.

Someday, we should spend a summer in Europe pursuing the legendary events. I'm still disappointed that I missed the Vuela De Espana because the mistresses of the sea almost stole my identity (and thus my means for obtaining a ride south to a stage of the race). One of my most memorable sport moments is watching a Liverpool/Manchester game at a pub near Liverpool. There's just nothing like actually being there.
man, you are on a bloging frenzy. Keep it rolling.
yeah that does suck that you weren't able to do that. then again, i came home even though i had a train pass for another five weeks and there is no reason i should have come home. if only that was now...
i told dad, and we'll do it 2010. if only that was this summer, we could have gone to the french open, wimbledon, tour de france, world cup, and a lot more...we'll do it though. it'll be fun.
