farewell usa in world cup 2006
i can't say i'm too thrilled about the performance that the united states has shown this world cup. i didnt' know anything about the team until coverage in germany started. i found out that we had "the best team the united states has ever sent to the world cup." i didn't see it. i think the us puts too much effort on strategy and possession than pushing forward and passion. i think i saw more passes backwards in the first game than i've ever seen. the us put forth a good effort in the second game, but with the help of the referees, they had to play 9 on 10 for several minutes. the third game, no one showed urgency. i have to admit, beasley had a good pass to dempsey in the forty-third minute that was put in the back of the net. other than that, the dempsey/donovan duo could have maybe scored if only the goalie was on the field and not the full eleven players. if it was anyone else who was playing, they would have had passion and would have played for fun. i don't know if it was bruce arena or donovan or reyna, but the us was very disappointing this world cup. i have to give it to ghana. they proved to the world that they deserve to be in the world cup.
the world cup is about strategy about mind games. don't take that to heart united states. the world cup is about passion and having fun. the united states didn't have passion and it sure wasn't fun.
